How to Style Cropped Tops and Hide Your Imperfections

Let me first say this post isn't just for those with certain body imperfections. I think it can be hard for anyone to style cropped pieces and have them look the way they want. Before having my kiddos, I never wore cropped tops. I was insecure that it made me look skinnier (I already looked like a string bean, I didn't really need any help) So I do find it strange that I am more into cropped tops now, that my weight has risen and the stretch marks have pilled on. Regardless, lets get into some tips and tricks I have learned!

Tip #1: You Don't have to show Skin.

Or you can show as much as you want, or show skin where you want and are more comfortable showing it. I am not comfortable showing my stomach as I still have a bit of a tummy and I suffer from extreme stretch marks. So I style bottoms that cover my belly button, then whatever cropped piece on top. That is what I am comfortable in. But you can also style a long sleeved crop top with a pair of short because you are insecure or don't like your arms.

I like this style because it shows this tiny piece of skin that I feel is pretty on anyone. I think no matter your shape or size that this would be super flattering. This can also be achieved by wearing a long sleeved crop top. Zara has a lot right now!

Tip #2 Add some pattern to it.

I think cropped tops are such a great way to add some pattern or colour into an outfit. Obviously, these tops are smaller than your average top, so if its in a bold pattern, theres a lot less of it. I don't like patterns too much, but a cute floral crop top and a high waisted skirt would be a cute spring outfit.

Tip #3 Wear bottoms you already love.

This is a pretty straight forward one. But if you are uncomfortable in a crop top, wear it with something you wear regularly and that makes you feel good! A pair of trousers you wear often might be the right bottom to style with a cropped top. Don't go buy new pants just because you think you need it. You most likely have something in your wardrobe that would look great and make you feel great in.

I love these pants. they hug me in all the right places and the vintage style of them makes me feel a million times cooler than I actually am! The top on the other hand kinda gives me an anxiety attack on its own. But paired with these jeans I feel like I can survive the day and feel amazing doing it!

Tip #4 Go baggy.

It is a assumption that a cropped top has to be tight or that you have to dress sexy when wearing one. But that is so far from the truth. I actually prefer to dress it more casual by wearing a pair of baggy pants or a loose fitting skirt. Baggy crops are very flattering and can be worn with a tighter bottom if you are more comfortable with that or vice versa.

Heres a cute cropped top that is baggy and super summery. Would look good with a pair of high wasted shorts or jeans! You can get it here.

I really hope that these tips helped and made you feel more comfortable bringing cropped tops into your wardrobe or if you are already a crop top lover I hope it gave you a few new outfit ideas!
